Porcelain Crowns

Once the structural integrity and health of a tooth is compromised, patients often experience tooth sensitivity, pain, and/or a visible breakdown and decay of the tooth. Porcelain crowns repair damage, can eliminate tooth sensitivity, and restore the normal appearance and function of your teeth with an all-ceramic material that is made to mimic the tooth’s natural color. In many cases, a porcelain crown can prevent the need for a root canal or the removal of a broken tooth. In cases where a root canal is actually necessary, a crown will be placed to reinforce the tooth with natural-looking results. Crowns are also the final step in the dental implant treatment process. Porcelain crowns have been effectively used for decades to restore both the health and appearance of damaged teeth with natural-looking results. Our experienced dentists here at Lima Road Dentistry offer the latest in dental restoration techniques to enhance both the form and function of your teeth.

Benefits of Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain crowns support and strengthens teeth while providing benefits such as:

  • Repairing fractures
  • Correcting significant wear from grinding
  • Attaching bridges
  • Covering dental implants
  • Restoring discolored/misshapen teeth
  • Preventing further tooth damage

Porcelain Crowns Procedure

Porcelain crowns are custom-made to ensure a precise fit for each individual patient. Our doctors will create a 3D model of your teeth, which is then sent to a dental restoration lab for the crowns to be produced. At that time, the ceramic material will be made to match the color of your existing teeth for an aesthetically pleasing, inconspicuous appearance. The porcelain crowns are then custom-fitted and cemented to your teeth to maximize support and comfort, as well as to fully restore function. Depending on the patient and the number of crowns needed to complete the restoration, the entire process can often be completed in just two appointments.
